Who we are

Two engineers. One name. A common obsession with making things work.

Founded in spirit by Sergey and Josafat, Sergafat LLC brings together engineering know-how, a passion for steel processing, and an enthusiasm for turning complicated calculations into useful tools.

We believe the strongest engineering solutions combine first principles, rigorous analysis, and the reality of manufacturing. Whether the challenge is a rolling force calculation, process optimization, or software that saves hours of manual work, we approach it with the same mindset: understand the physics, build the solution, validate the result.

“We don't just think outside the box. We calculate the forces acting on the box.”
Our capabilities

What we bring to the mill.

A focused blend of practical industrial experience, analytical engineering, and digital problem-solving.

Because every respectable company needs a values section. We decided ours should mean something.

Precision over PowerPoint

Pretty slides are welcome. Correct calculations are mandatory.

Physics First

Opinions are negotiable. Conservation laws are not.

Practical Innovation

If it only works in a spreadsheet, it isn't finished.

Radical Clarity

Complex engineering deserves simple, honest explanations.

Continuous Improvement

There is always a better setup, cleaner model, or smarter line of code.

Synergy (Unfortunately)

We combine steel, mechanics, and software. Yes, this is technically synergy.

Our philosophy

Big-picture thinking. Micrometer-level attention to detail.

We operate at the intersection of metallurgy, mechanical engineering, and software development, creating solutions designed for the real world—not just the executive summary.

Your password must be unforgettable. You must forget it every three days.

Effective immediately, all passwords must comply with the following perfectly reasonable requirements:

  • At least 27 characters, including uppercase, lowercase, numbers, punctuation, one ancient rune, and a symbol your keyboard does not have.
  • Change it every 72 hours. The expiration clock continues during weekends, vacation, and medical emergencies.
  • Do not reuse any of your previous 365 passwords, or anything you have ever considered using as a password.
  • Do not include your name, birthday, pet, company, recognizable words, or anything that could assist you in remembering it.
  • Writing it down is prohibited. Forgetting it is a performance issue. Password managers are pending approval by the Password Management Steering Committee.
  • Every login requires an authenticator code, a second authenticator to authenticate the first authenticator, and approval from someone currently on PTO.

03 · Urgent Notice from IT · Screen-Locking Compliance

Your unlocked screen is an international networking opportunity.

It has come to IT’s attention that several employees continue to leave their workstations unlocked while getting coffee. According to our entirely fictional Threat Intelligence Department, Russian and Chinese spies are patiently waiting behind the break-room ficus to steal our lunch schedule, our obsolete Excel macros, and the PowerPoint marked FINAL_FINAL_v8_ACTUAL_FINAL.

Do not assume your spreadsheet is too boring for foreign intelligence. They have entire departments for that.

Employees caught leaving their screens unlocked will be executed by hanging from their laptop power cord in front of the IT department.

The proceedings will be streamed live via Microsoft Teams, with simultaneous translation available. Please remain muted unless called upon. Attendance is mandatory; the recording will be available for colleagues experiencing connection issues.

Employees issued cordless mice are reminded that this does not constitute diplomatic immunity. Appeals must be submitted through the IT portal, which is currently unavailable.

SERGAFAT LLC ANNOUNCES REVOLUTIONARY EMPLOYEE RETENTION STRATEGY

HR Excellence Initiative: Why Hire People Who Can Leave?

Official Communication from the Department of Human Resources, Workforce Dependency & Strategic Desperation

Dear Sergafat Family,

At Sergafat LLC, we believe that employee retention is the foundation of organizational excellence.

For years, companies have wasted millions of dollars on competitive salaries, career development, employee satisfaction, and attractive benefits.

Our HR department has discovered a far more cost-effective solution:

Hire people who cannot afford to quit.

Following an extensive strategic review, we are proud to introduce our revolutionary Workforce Stability Through Limited Alternatives™ program.

Our recruitment strategy will now prioritize three key categories of employees.

Hardworking factory employee
Hardworking factory employee
Green-haired apprentice
Green-haired apprentice
Long-serving factory engineer
Long-serving factory engineer

CATEGORY 1: APPRENTICES — THE UNEXPLOITED POTENTIAL

Why hire an experienced engineer for $120,000 when you can hire three apprentices for $15 an hour and give them access to ChatGPT?

At Sergafat LLC, we strongly believe that experience is overrated and technical expertise is something employees can acquire through mandatory online training.

Our apprenticeship program offers:

- Immediate responsibility for critical production equipment.
- Exposure to projects that experienced engineers have already refused.
- Unlimited opportunities to work beyond the original job description.
- Competitive compensation, compared to unemployment.
- A potential full-time position, pending budget approval in 2037.

Apprentices will be encouraged to demonstrate leadership, independence, and accountability while remaining classified as entry-level personnel.

HR Golden Rule #1: If an apprentice can perform the job, it was never a senior-level position to begin with.

CATEGORY 2: IMMIGRATION-DEPENDENT EMPLOYEES — THE ULTIMATE RETENTION SUCCESS STORY

Our HR department has identified an extraordinary correlation between employee retention and immigration paperwork.

Employees waiting for employment-based green cards demonstrate remarkable loyalty, exceptional patience, and an almost supernatural ability to tolerate corporate nonsense.

Some remain with the company for years, even when presented with significantly better opportunities elsewhere.

Clearly, this demonstrates the outstanding quality of our workplace culture.

Our HR team proudly reports a 99.8% retention rate among employees who believe changing employers could jeopardize their immigration process.

We are especially pleased to introduce our new corporate slogan:

"Your Future Is Green. Your Priority Date Is Not."

To support these valued colleagues, Sergafat LLC will provide:

- Annual updates confirming that the legal department is reviewing the situation.
- Inspirational emails encouraging patience and resilience.
- Mandatory workshops on gratitude and organizational commitment.
- A framed copy of the company values, upon approval of permanent residency.

Employees asking for salary adjustments will be reminded that the company has already invested considerable resources in their immigration journey.

HR Golden Rule #2: The strongest employee loyalty program is one administered by USCIS.

CATEGORY 3: PRE-RETIREMENT PROFESSIONALS — EXPERIENCE WITHOUT MOBILITY

At Sergafat LLC, we recognize the tremendous value of employees approaching retirement.

These colleagues possess decades of experience, extensive technical knowledge, and, most importantly, very little enthusiasm for updating their résumés.

They have survived six reorganizations, fourteen plant managers, three ERP implementations, and countless leadership initiatives.

They have seen enough to know that the new strategic transformation program is identical to the previous seven.

Our HR team has identified these employees as ideal candidates for long-term organizational stability.

Why would a 63-year-old engineer with 38 years of service leave now, when retirement is just around the corner?

Exactly.

Our retention strategy practically manages itself.

To recognize their dedication, Sergafat LLC offers:

- Increased responsibilities following every resignation in the department.
- Regular reminders that retirement is a personal choice.
- Opportunities to mentor apprentices who will eventually replace them.
- Invitations to explain obsolete machinery to consultants charging $350 per hour.
- A commemorative Chinese-made plastic clock upon retirement, batteries not included.

HR Golden Rule #3: Employees who are counting the days until retirement rarely waste time negotiating career development opportunities.

OUR NEW WORKFORCE SUCCESS MODEL

Following extensive benchmarking, HR has established the ideal Sergafat LLC workforce composition:

- Apprentices who do not know better: 35%
- Employees waiting for green cards: 35%
- Employees waiting for retirement: 29%
- Employees with realistic alternatives: 1%

The remaining 1% represents a critical organizational risk.

Our HR department is currently investigating why these employees have not resigned yet.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT SURVEY RESULTS

We are extremely proud to announce that 96% of Sergafat LLC employees intend to remain with the organization.

Additional survey findings:

- 82% cannot afford to leave.
- 67% have stopped checking job postings.
- 74% believe management will eventually change.
- 91% have lost hope that management will eventually change.
- 0.1% believe HR is not their friend.

These outstanding results confirm that our people strategy is working exactly as intended.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE FROM HUMAN RESOURCES

The HR department was deeply concerned by the results of this completely anonymous employee engagement survey.

We would like to remind Jill from the Engineering Department, second shift, that HR has always been there to support her.

Jill, please remember that when you requested three days of PTO in August, we personally helped you receive the vacation days you had already earned, following only six emails, two escalations, and a formal review with your manager.

We find your lack of trust deeply disappointing.

Please remember: Your survey responses are completely anonymous, and we know exactly who you are.

A mandatory one-on-one meeting has been scheduled to discuss your concerns about psychological safety.

HR — Your Trusted Partner in Confidential Employee Relations.

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM HUMAN RESOURCES

"We are committed to creating an environment where employees choose to stay, regardless of whether they actually have a choice."

Our goal is to build a workplace where every individual feels valued, supported, and appropriately constrained by their personal circumstances.

We are particularly excited about the enormous potential of combining all three strategic employee categories.

Imagine an apprentice on a temporary visa who is already approaching retirement age.

This individual would represent the ultimate achievement in sustainable human resource management.

HR is currently developing a special recruitment initiative targeting this demographic.

ANNOUNCING OUR NEW EMPLOYEE RECOGNITION PROGRAM

To celebrate our success in workforce retention, HR is introducing the prestigious:

GOLDEN HANDCUFFS EXCELLENCE AWARD™

Eligible employees must demonstrate at least five consecutive years of service despite consistently expressing dissatisfaction with their employment conditions.

Winners will receive:

“ARBEIT MACHT FREI!”
Satirical golden handcuffs award wristband with the historical phrase Arbeit macht frei
The satirical Golden Handcuffs Excellence Award

Terms and conditions apply.

Estimated unit cost: $0.08

Awards will be presented during a mandatory unpaid lunch meeting.

FINAL MESSAGE FROM CORPORATE LEADERSHIP

"At Sergafat LLC, we do not believe in trapping employees.

We believe in creating an environment where leaving is simply not a viable option."

SERGAFAT LLC

Our People Are Our Greatest Asset. Especially When They Are Fully Depreciated.

Office of Strategic Human Capital Dependency & Employee Appreciation

Disclaimer: Sergafat LLC respects employees' right to seek alternative employment. Any resemblance between our retention strategy and a hostage negotiation is purely coincidental.

● CORPORATE ANNOUNCEMENT | ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Important Leadership and Personnel Changes

From the Office of Administrative Alignment & Internal Position Harmonization

Dear Colleagues,

We are extremely pleased to announce several important organizational changes within the Department of General Issues and Miscellaneous Administrative Coordination.

Following an extensive leadership review and strategic alignment process, the following appointments will take effect immediately:

John Doe, previously Apprentice, has been promoted to Department Clerk I.

John has consistently demonstrated outstanding commitment to organizational values, including punctual attendance at mandatory meetings and responsible use of office stationery.

Jill Smith, previously Manager of General Issues II, has been promoted to Managing Director of Managers of General Issues.

In her new role, Jill will oversee the managers responsible for supervising the coordination of general issues, ensuring that all issues remain appropriately general and receive the necessary managerial attention.

While these changes do not affect any business processes, reporting structures, responsibilities, or actual work, we strongly believe it is essential that every employee across our global organization is aware of them.

Please take a moment out of your busy schedules to congratulate John and Jill on their remarkable career achievements.

An updated organizational chart will be distributed shortly, followed by a mandatory global Teams meeting to explain these changes in greater detail.

Together, we are making organizational complexity our competitive advantage.

New Manager Onboarding Program

Module 001: Ignorance Is a Blessing — The Art of Leading Without Understanding

Official Sergafat LLC Leadership Development Series

Welcome to management!

Congratulations on your promotion! You have successfully demonstrated that your ability to explain what other people should do significantly exceeds your ability to do it yourself.

At Sergafat LLC, we believe that technical knowledge is an unnecessary burden that prevents leaders from seeing the bigger picture.

Our philosophy is simple:

The less you know, the more you can demand.

Knowledge creates doubt. Doubt creates questions. Questions create delays. And delays are unacceptable when someone else's annual bonus depends on meeting the deadline.

This onboarding program will teach you how to eliminate the dangerous influence of competence from your leadership style.

CHAPTER 1: THE DUNNING-KRUGER LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE

Traditional organizations mistakenly believe that managers should understand the activities they supervise.

At Sergafat LLC, we have adopted a revolutionary approach.

Our leadership development strategy is based on identifying the ideal point on the Dunning-Kruger curve: the precise moment when confidence reaches its maximum while understanding remains dangerously close to zero.

This is where true leadership begins.

If you learn too much, you may accidentally understand why a project takes six months instead of two weeks.

This could compromise your ability to demand immediate results.

Management Golden Rule #1: Never become sufficiently informed to question your own expectations.

If an engineer tells you something is impossible, remember: impossible is merely an opinion expressed by an employee lacking a leadership mindset.

CHAPTER 2: MASTER THE ART OF ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS

As a manager, your primary responsibility is to challenge your team with questions that demonstrate your authority without exposing you to the inconvenience of understanding the answers.

Recommended questions include:

  • "Why can't we just make it work?"
  • "Have we considered thinking outside the box?"
  • "What is preventing us from accelerating the timeline?"
  • "Can we do it without spending money?"
  • "Why is this so complicated?"
  • "What is our next step?"
  • "Have you tried using AI?"

Never ask technical follow-up questions.

If your employee begins explaining material properties, machine limitations, physical laws, or regulatory requirements, immediately interrupt:

"I don't want to get into the weeds. I need solutions, not problems."

Congratulations. You have successfully transformed your lack of understanding into the employee's lack of accountability.

CHAPTER 3: ADVANCED BOOTLICKING AND EXECUTIVE RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT

At Sergafat LLC, we recognize that technical expertise may occasionally contribute to business performance.

However, nothing accelerates a management career quite like a properly executed act of executive admiration.

Your career is not determined by how effectively you solve problems.

It is determined by how effectively you make your superior feel like they solved them.

Practical exercises:

Scenario A: Your director makes a completely ridiculous suggestion.

Incorrect response:
"That would violate several fundamental principles of mechanical engineering."

Correct response:
"Excellent strategic direction! I think the team needs some time to fully appreciate the potential of this approach."

Scenario B: Your boss repeats an idea you presented three weeks ago.

Incorrect response:
"Yes, that's exactly what I recommended."

Correct response:
"Brilliant! This is precisely the kind of visionary leadership we need!"

Scenario C: Your VP suggests reducing development time by 80%.

Correct response:
"I love the ambition. Let's challenge the team to find a way!"

Important: Never commit yourself to delivering the result. Assign an engineer as the action owner immediately.

CHAPTER 4: MANAGING UP, BLAMING DOWN

A successful manager must maintain strict control over the direction of accountability.

At Sergafat LLC, we have developed a simple and highly effective system:

Credit flows upward. Blame flows downward.

When a project succeeds:

"Through my leadership, we achieved extraordinary results."

When a project fails:

"Unfortunately, the engineering team did not demonstrate the necessary ownership and urgency."

When the team warned you about the failure three months earlier:

"We need to improve proactive communication."

When you personally rejected the proposed corrective actions:

"There appears to have been a misunderstanding regarding management expectations."

Remember: documentation is dangerous. Avoid written technical decisions whenever possible.

CHAPTER 5: THE STRATEGIC USE OF CORPORATE VOCABULARY

The most important characteristic of executive communication is the ability to speak continuously without transmitting meaningful information.

Master the following expressions:

"Let's align."
Translation: I have no idea what we are discussing.

"We need more ownership."
Translation: Someone needs to take responsibility, preferably someone below my salary grade.

"Let's circle back."
Translation: I hope everyone forgets about this.

"I want to challenge the team."
Translation: I am about to request something unreasonable.

"This is a development opportunity."
Translation: You will do your manager's job without additional compensation.

"We are one family."
Translation: Overtime is not approved.

"We need to work smarter, not harder."
Translation: Budget has been rejected.

"Leadership is fully committed."
Translation: No resources will be provided.

CHAPTER 6: MEETINGS AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PRODUCTIVITY

An effective manager understands that actual work is difficult to observe and evaluate.

Meetings, however, generate calendar invitations, PowerPoint presentations, and opportunities to demonstrate executive presence.

At Sergafat LLC, every technical problem must generate a minimum of three meetings:

  1. A meeting to identify why the problem exists.
  2. A meeting to discuss why the problem has not been resolved.
  3. A meeting to investigate why engineers are spending too much time in meetings.

For additional visibility, schedule a daily 8:00 AM progress review.

Invite everyone responsible for completing the work.

If progress slows, increase meeting frequency.

Management Golden Rule #2: If you cannot improve productivity, improve visibility of your concern about productivity.

CHAPTER 7: THE EXECUTIVE BROWN-NOSING CERTIFICATION

Sergafat LLC is proud to introduce its three-level Executive Relationship Excellence Program.

Bronze Level — Supportive Leadership

You enthusiastically agree with every statement made by your boss, even when the statements contradict each other.

Silver Level — Strategic Admiration

You begin complimenting your boss before they finish speaking.

You publicly credit them for ideas they have not yet expressed.

Gold Level — Executive Symbiosis

You anticipate your boss's opinion and adopt it before they develop it themselves.

If the boss changes their mind, you immediately explain why their new position was actually your position all along.

Platinum Level — Corporate Transcendence

Your personal opinions, technical judgment, and independent thought have been completely eliminated.

You are now qualified for senior management.

CHAPTER 8: CREATING URGENCY WITHOUT PROVIDING RESOURCES

Why do managers insist on urgency?

Because urgency is free.

Additional equipment costs money. Skilled personnel cost money. Engineering validation takes time.

But saying "This is our number one priority" costs absolutely nothing.

At Sergafat LLC, we recommend assigning at least seven simultaneous number-one priorities.

When employees question the contradiction, remind them that prioritization is a critical professional competency.

If they request additional headcount, suggest automation.

If they request automation funding, suggest continuous improvement.

If they request time for continuous improvement, remind them of the seven urgent priorities.

This is called Operational Excellence.
